Guidelines for Presenters:

Title & Abstract

Your title and abstract should clearly and concisely describe what you will present. If you arepresenting a learning activity or lab exercise, describe the activity, intended student population and how the activity is used in the classroom or lab. If you are presenting biology education research, describe the research question or problem, research design and analysis. Formal assessment of a learning activity or approach is not required but the activity or approach should have been implemented at least once in the classroom or lab. Try and keep your abstract to 300 words or less.

Presentation Formats:

Posters - this is a great opportunity to share new data, approaches, or ideas with your colleagues!

10 minute - Appropriate items for 10 minute sessions include posters, quick teaching ideas, or conducting a poll to get data from other conference attendees.

20 minute - Typical talks given in the 20-minute time slots are overviews or ideas. Successful 20-minute talks tend to present a summary or single concept. If your presentation has a lot of data and/or you are looking for feedback from attendees, consider the 40-minute time slot.

40 minute - Oral presentations that attempt to discuss data work best in 40-minute time slots. This allows time to fully explain your pedagogical question, methods, and results as well as leaves time for attendees to ask questions. These slots are also opportunities for extended discussion on a specific topic of interest in a small group setting. Roundtables are excellent venues for giving and receiving targeted feedback, engaging in in- depth discussions, and meeting colleagues with similar interests.

90 minute - presentation are reserved for demonstrations and or workshops. Contact the program chair with inquiries.
